When your floor space is limited but your ambitions aren’t, a double-deck booth solves the problem by building up instead of out. A second level adds meeting rooms, VIP hospitality, or extra demo space — without paying for a bigger footprint on the show floor.
What a double-deck booth involves
A double-deck (two-storey) booth is a load-bearing structure, which means it’s treated differently from a standard build from day one. Most organisers require the design to be submitted in advance with full architectural drawings, and structural stability calculations signed off by a licensed engineer confirming the upper floor can safely carry its expected load. Depending on the venue, you may also need fire-safety compliance certificates, proof of liability insurance covering the structure, and a capacity limit posted for the upper level. Our project managers handle this documentation as part of the build, so it’s submitted on time rather than becoming a last-minute scramble before move-in.
Why exhibitors choose two levels
- More usable space, same rent — the upper floor adds square metres without an additional stand fee.
- A genuinely private upstairs — meetings and briefings happen away from the noise and foot traffic below.
- Brand visibility above the crowd — logos and branding on the upper level are visible across the hall, not just from directly in front of the booth.
Design and build-up
Double-deck booths typically take longer to install than single-level stands — a 100 m² structure usually needs 3–5 days on-site once rigging, staircases and load-bearing checks are factored in — so our build-up team books these slots early with the organiser. On the design side, glass balustrades keep the upper level feeling open, while solid walls give more privacy; either way, booth design starts with a free 3D concept so you can see the finished structure before production begins.
Why Choose Maverick?
If a second floor isn’t quite what you need but you still want a large-format stand, our Custom Booths and Large Exhibition Stands pages cover single-level alternatives at scale.
